CROP

Malaysian crop smallholders cultivate a diverse range of 83 vegetables, 44 fruits, and 13 herbs and spices. Predominantly male and over 40, they face challenges like soaring input costs, climate change, and pest attacks, leading to reduced productivity and financial instability.

livestock

Malaysian livestock smallholders, predominantly male and younger, focus on cows, goats, and chickens. They face challenges such as rising feed costs, climate change impacts, and animal diseases. Most sell fresh products directly to consumers, with minimal processing.

aquaculture

Aquaculture smallholders in Malaysia cultivate approximately 51 species, including Tilapia, Silver Catfish, and Catfish. They face challenges like rising feed costs, climate change impacts, and disease outbreaks. Training in farm management and new techniques is needed to enhance productivity and sustainability.
